Tucuma Butter, Astrocaryum aculeatum

Tucuma butter, Astrocaryum aculeatum

Tucuma comes from a palm tree with a trunk covered with thorns, hence its tongue name Tupi: “the fruit of the thorny plant”.

Tucuma butter contributes to hydration of the skin and forms a thin protective layer that allows the pores to breathe.

It contains vitamins A, B1, B2 and C, as well as than pectin, which is an important natural fibre. The oil, from the pulp, is rich in beta-carotene.
